Protect Yourself with Honda Sensing®
As Cerritos, Los Angeles, and Long Beach drivers start exploring the expansive Honda lineup, there’s one suite that they’re bound to hear about time and again: Honda Sensing®.
So, what is Honda Sensing®, and what does it do? In this article, the Norm Reeves Honda Superstore Cerritos team is going to show you.
What is Honda Sensing®?
If you’re wondering what Honda Sensing® is, it all boils down to its predictive technology. This suite utilizes a wide network of sensors and small cameras, all of which have a singular aim: to predict when an accident is about to occur, and to prevent it from ever happening. This is achieved in two ways:
- Warnings: In some cases, Honda Sensing® will simply alert you when the danger is close. It might flash an alert on your screen, or chime an audio warning. It may even send vibrations through the steering wheel to snap you back into awareness.
- Autonomous Action: If it doesn’t appear that you’ve gotten the message, Honda Sensing® will take matters into its own hands. This suite may pull at the steering wheel or simply hit the brakes for you to prevent a collision from happening.
The Core Honda Sensing® Features
Honda Sensing® comes with a wide range of different features. However, these are the most common ones that you’ll use on a day-to-day basis.
- Lane Departure Warning: If you start to drift out of your lane, your Honda will let you know. It’ll flash lights and sound to get your attention.
- Lane Keeping Assist System: This feature will keep track of your turn signals. If you start to move out of your lane without one, it may actually adjust your steering for you.
- Road Departure Mitigation System: Road Departure Mitigation is a lot like the previous two features. If you start drifting off to the side of the road without your turn signal on, it will steer assist you back into the lane.
- Adaptive Cruise Control: Unlike standard cruise control, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow monitors following distances for you. If the car in front of you slows down (thus posing a hazard), this feature will hit the brakes.
- Collision Mitigation Braking System™: This feature plays a large part in the last one. If it detects you’re on course for a front-end collision at any time, it will apply brakeforce to lessen or avoid damage.
- Forward Collision Warning: Before Collision Mitigation kicks in, the Forward Collision Warning will likely send you a warning first. That way, you have the opportunity to hit the brakes yourself.
