The Sporty Hybrid Called the 2012 Honda CR-Z

A sporty hybrid car is something that will interest a lot of car lovers so Honda tried to fuse these two. With the release of the 2012 CR-Z, Honda tried to marry the hybrid part and the sporty part. The CR-Z looks like the classic CRX but with a fuel efficient hybrid drive train. It is the only hybrid available that has a six-speed manual gearbox. The 2012 CR-Z is called a hybrid sports coupe packed with a 1.5-liter 16-valve engine that is rated at 113 horsepower. The four-cylinder engine is equipped with i-VTEC, a feature that can control the valve timing and lift system of the engine to make it more fuel efficient and to reduce its exhaust emissions. It ranked 7^th in the list of EPA’s 2012 Hybrid Fuel Economy with 35 mpg for city and 39 mpg for highway.

The wedge shape of the 2012 CR-Z is very recognizable. You will notice that its aerodynamic roofline looks similar with the CR-X but the CR-Z looks more modern with the addition of the flowing lines. The rear is truncated in such a way that it will reduce air resistance. This design is called a Kammback. Fuel consumption is also lessened due to the tail’s low drag.

When you check to interior, you will be surprised that even if it’s a small car, this two-seat coupe can still seat the passengers comfortably. There’s enough legroom and taller passengers will not have a problem with the headroom. There are small storage bins behind so you can keep smaller items and for the larger ones, there’s a cargo cover to hide bigger items. Honda did something right with the sporty 2012 CR-Z hybrid.
