The 2013 Honda Civic Is Your Same Old Brand New Civic
One of the most saleable Honda car models, the Civic enjoyed success both in Asia and the US. Classified as an affordable small car, buyers like its simple and yet elegant design, above average performance, and durability. However, the lack of new innovations is where the Civic comes short. This year‘s version comes with pretty much the same formula, leading some to tag it as “the same, nothing new”. The 2013 Honda Civic comes in four versions – base, Si, HF and Hybrid. While they differ in their powertrains, all have the same gasoline-powered four cylinder engine design. The engine is capable of 140hp for the base version. The engine of the Si is substantially stronger at 201 horsepower with better acceleration.
Fuel efficiency is still great, but some opine that the new model should have improved in fuel ratings due to availability of newer technologies. The 2013 Civic consumes at a rate of 28 mpg city driving and 39 mpg highway, with a combined rating of 32 mpg. That is pretty much the same compared to last year’s Honda Civic.
The interior though has significantly improved. The now black trimmed design really stands out and can compete with the interior of more luxurious cars. Seats have been improved to provide better comfort. The dashboard has a four-speaker stereo with Bluetooth capability, Pandora Internet radio capability, SMS functionality, USB interface and auxiliary jack, and an optional navigation system.
For safety features, the 2013 Civic has standard air bags for both driver and passenger, including bags for head and side. It has electronic stability control and traction control, with 4-wheel disc brakes. The 2013 Civic has good marks in safety and crash tests.
The final word – the 2013 Honda Civic isn’t much of an upgrade when compared to last year’s model. While the interior is better, engine performance and fuel efficiency are still the same. It is a good affordable small car, though not among the best.
