What is the Veterans Day Job Fair?

Over the past couple years, the City of Los Angeles has boasted impressive economic growth leading to more jobs, better wages, and better living conditions for residents. It’s sad to say that the area of South Los Angeles hasn’t seen the same financial boom. That’s why RISE Financial Pathways, a non-profit community development institution, came up with Los Angeles’ first-ever job fair block party. The event is designed to bring businesses and workers together to meet, mingle, prospect, and have fun.

The event is taking place on Saturday, November 12 from 9 am to 4 pm at the RISE Financial Pathways building in Los Angeles at 4060 South Figueroa Street. The surrounding open spaces will be transformed to hold employer booths, food trucks, mobile clinics, face painting, music, and much more.

What to Wear

What most of us would wear to a block party isn’t necessarily the same outfit we’d choose for a job fair. So what should you wear to your first job fair block party?

Good news is, you can breathe easy knowing that the employers who will be there also know this is a block party hybrid. They’re anticipating a bit of a casual and fun atmosphere, with the hopes of finding qualified applicants to fill empty positions.

However, you still want to be sure that you make a good first impression, so leave the tank top and gym shorts at home. Instead, opt for a nice pair of jeans – no rips or holes, even if you paid extra for that treatment. For a top, choose a nice dress shirt or blouse. Then finish it off with a blazer and accessories. Sneakers are okay if they’re in good condition.
