Your Guide to the 2017 Tour of Long Beach
The only thing better than supporting a great cause is having fun while doing so. And every year, Long Beach hosts one of the most fun, challenging events in the area: the Tour of Long Beach.
If you’re a hardcore bike enthusiast, or you just enjoy going on casual rides with family and friends, there’s a place for you at this excellent event. And our team will tell you all about it.
The Cause
While you’re meant to have fun and get a little bit of exercise, there’s really only one reason why the Tour of Long Beach is put on every year: to support the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Center (JJCCC) at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital.
Every year, more than 800 infants, children, and adolescents are treated at the JJCCC. Research and care are administered to patients with cancer, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and a range of other blood disorders.
Undoubtedly, all the money raised during the Tour of Long Beach will help to save the lives of hundreds of children.
The Event
This year, the race will be held on Saturday, May 13, with bike routes spanning over 100 miles of the Long Beach area. Participants can choose from a wide range of races to find the tour that best fits their fitness level.
- Family Fun Ride: 5 miles long, and perfect for kids.
- Tour of Long Beach: A more leisurely, scenic ride covering 30 miles.
- Metric Century: A more strenuous ride spanning 62 miles.
- Cruz Gran Fondo: Emulating the Tour de France, this 100+ mile ride will give you a run for your money.
