The Firkfest Cask Beer Festival
They say necessity is the mother of invention. Well, three years ago, Greg Nagel, creator of the OCBeerBlog, decided that Orange County needed a cask beer festival that could compete with the many craft beer events he’s attended over the years. And so, the Firkfest Cask Beer Festival was born.
Now one of the most highly anticipated craft beer events in the area, the Firkfest Cask Beer Festival is coming back to Anaheim, CA, which means you have yet another chance to sample some carefully made local craft beers.
To make sure that you don’t miss a single drop of the festivities, we’ve poured everything you need to know about Firkfest into this pint-sized guide. Bottoms up!
The Goods: Food and Drinks at Firkfest
At the 2016 Firkfest Cask Beer Festival, you’ll have access to more than 50 casks from over 30 Southern California craft breweries. We’re talking about Noble Ale Works, Anaheim Brewery, Bottle Logic Brewing, and many more of your favorite craft breweries, all of which you can enjoy with unlimited 2- to 4-oz pours.
Plus you’ll get a commemorative 10-oz British nonic pub glass with the purchase of admission, so you can reminisce about the festival as you’re sipping on a cold one at home.
With so much specialty beer at your fingertips, what could be better than to pair it with fare from some of the most popular food trucks in the area? With a diverse selection of affordable cuisine, plus a special partnership with Anaheim Packing House, we don’t think you’ll have any problem finding something to satisfy your hunger.
The What, When, Where of the Firkfest Cask Beer Festival
Firkfest is scheduled for Saturday, March 19 at Farmers Park in Anaheim, CA. Located at 400 South Anaheim Boulevard, this craft beer extravaganza will run fromnoon to 4 pm, which means you’ll have four whole hours to sample as many cask beers as you can get your glass under.
Keep in mind that the Firkfest Cask Beer Festival is a rain or shine event, so you’ll want to pay attention to the weather reports and come prepared. However, if the weather holds, you’ll have 2 beautiful acres of pristine park to stroll, relax, and socialize on. So don’t forget to pack a picnic blanket or folding chair.
Get Your Tickets Early
Being such a popular event does have one downside: Tickets tend to sell out fast. Order your tickets early to secure your spot and avoid higher ticket prices closer to the date of the event.
There are two types of admission tickets available: general and designated driver. The general admission ticket ($55) includes unlimited 2- to 4-oz pours based on the beer’s alcohol by volume and a commemorative glass. The designated driver ticket ($15) must be purchased with a general admission ticket, and all ticket holders must be at least 21 years old. You won’t get to taste the beers (otherwise you wouldn’t be a good designated driver), but you’ll enjoy limitless soft drinks.
Procrastinator tickets will be available starting on March 14. These tickets are $65 each and will only be offered if the festival isn’t already sold out. So your best bet is to order tickets as early as you can.
We hope you have a great time at the Firkfest Cask Beer Festival. Please remember to drink responsibly and never get behind the wheel with someone who’s been drinking.
