Cruising Los Angeles in the 2012 Honda CR-V

The 2012 Honda CR-V is a redesigned model belonging to the compact-crossover build. Not much change is seen with the CR-V released this year but there are some features which were addressed because of complaints from customers. Some of the carryovers from the previous model are the 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine, the same wheelbase and width, and pretty much the same legroom inside the cabin. The 2012 Honda CR-V still has its five-speed automatic transmission like the previously released model. Issues addressed from the previous models include the noise heard from outside. With the 2012 Honda CR-V, it is reinforced with additional insulation to eliminate more of the noise coming from outside the vehicle. There have also been changes made to the calibration of suspension, making a ride in this model smoother and of better quality.

An advantage of the new CR-V is that it employs Eco Assist, Honda’s fuel-efficiency enhancement system. With just a push of a button, the fuel efficiency is made better and a certain amount of fuel is saved. The sleek design of the new CR-V’s body also makes it more aerodynamic which in turn helps enhance fuel efficiency. Having said those, it has an estimated fuel efficiency of 23 cty/31 hwy mpg*.

New features of the 2012 Honda CR-V include restyled sheet metal, a rearview camera, upgraded cabin space, a sound system with four speakers that comes with a CD player, audio controls on the steering wheels, and a multi-information display in full colors. It also features the Pandora interface, and has a USB and iPod port for other media.

A possible downside for some drivers when it comes to performance is that not as much power comes with the 4-cylinder engine compared with the V-6 competitors. However, the CR-V has sharper handling and steering compared to other SUVs with similar features, things important when cruising in Los Angeles!
