November 9th, 2015 by

The holiday season is back, which means it must be time again for the Belmont Shore Christmas Parade. Year after year, this exciting Christmas parade has been delighting the good people of Belmont Shore and spreading the holiday spirit.

In this comprehensive guide, you’ll learn everything you need to know about the event, from what to expect to where you should sit for the best view.

33rd Annual Belmont Shore Christmas Parade

Featuring more than 100 entries, the 33rd Annual Belmont Shore Christmas Parade just might be the largest one yet. Long Beach businesses and associations have designed decorative floats that will roll along with more than a dozen local marching bands, public figures and, of course, Santa himself.

The Christmas parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, rain or shine. At about 5 pm, officials will begin to close traffic on East 2nd Street. The parade is set to start at 6 pm sharp and run until about 9 pm. The theme for this year’s parade is Miracle on 2nd Street.

Belmont Shore Christmas Parade Route

As soon as they begin to shut down 2nd Street, people will start setting up their blankets and chairs along the parade route, so you may want to head out early to get a front-row seat for watching the parade. If you’re driving in, there’s free parking available at the Marine Stadium and the Ocean Avenue Beach lots.

The Christmas parade will begin at the corner of 2nd Street and Quincy Avenue and head south down 2nd Street toward Claremont Avenue. Feel free to pick a spot anywhere along the street to watch, but you may want to avoid Corona Avenue to Covina Avenue since band participants will take a break from playing when passing there.

Once the parade reaches Claremont Avenue, participants will turn around and head north on the other side of 2nd Street. This turning point is an ideal spot to get a glimpse of the action.

As the parade heads north, it will pass a special judging station at the corner of Corona Avenue, where cameras will be set up in front of Chase Bank. This is another prime location to watch the parade.

After passing the judging station, the Belmont Shore Christmas Parade will continue down 2nd Street, cross over Livingston Drive, and disband after Ximeno Avenue.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this guide to the Belmont Shore Christmas Parade.
