62nd Annual Uptown Holiday Parade

The Annual Uptown Holiday Parade is back, and this year it promises to be better than ever. In this guide, you’ll learn everything you need to know about this festive holiday event, including what to expect and where to catch the best views.

Where: Starts at Hadley Street and Greenleaf Avenue. Ends at the Whittier Community Center.

Time: 10 am to noon

62nd Annual Uptown Holiday Parade

Hosted by the Whittier Uptown Association, the 62nd Annual Uptown Whittier Holiday Parade is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. More than 10,000 visitors from across the community join with family and friends to watch as the parade marches through town.

This year, the parade theme is Fun in the Uptown Sun, which is exactly what that day will be. Parade participants include a variety of marching bands, drill teams, dancers, floats, equestrian groups, and city officials. Judges from the Southern California Bands and Orchestra Association will be judging the participating marching bands and auxiliary units.

The celebrity grand marshal for the 62nd Uptown Holiday Parade will be local resident Jose Ramos, a former medic in the Vietnam War and the founder of the Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day. Ramos is also known for his work providing aid programs to veterans in need.

Uptown Holiday Parade Route

Starting at 10 am, the 62nd Annual Uptown Holiday Parade will set off down Greenleaf Avenue from Hadley Street toward Mar Vista Street. Once the parade reaches Mar Vista Street, it will turn left until finally ending at the Whittier Community Center.

There are plenty of great spots to watch the parade along the entire route, but there are a few places that could provide a particularly fantastic view. One of those spots is at the Philadelphia Street and Greenleaf Avenue intersection. Thanks to the wide street and limited trees, views of the parade should be great.

Further down Greenleaf, another prime location is at any of the large, open corners by Penn Street. Remember to bring a chair if you’d prefer not to stand. Finally, the last spot you may want to check out is at the corner of Mar Vista Street where the parade will turn.
