2013 Honda Pilot: Your Larger-Than-Usual Crossover

Honda offers you this year the 2013 Honda Pilot, their midsize crossover said to have the right formula of performance, usability, and reliability. The 2013 Pilot is powered by a 3.5L V-6 engine that generates 250hp, 253 lbs. of torque, with a fuel rating of 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway*. There is an option for all-wheel drive, with a slight penalty in the fuel rating. The Pilot can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 8.9 seconds and can tow loads weighing up to 4,500 lbs.

The 2013 Pilot accommodates eight passengers and there is decent room for cargo. Folding down the rear seats, cargo space reaches 87 ft³. While this may seem average comparing to other crossovers, the Pilot’s boxy shape allows it to accommodate larger items. Plus, the availability of storage bins and pockets allows for easy keeping of small, valuable items.

There are four trims available – LX, EX, EX-L and Touring; features depend on the trim. All models of the Pilot get these features – full power accessories, cruise control, tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control, an 8” display with Bluetooth and phone connectivity, a 7-speaker sound system w/ CD player, auxiliary audio jack and USB/iPod interface. There are other features available on higher trims like leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 10-speaker premium sound system, satellite radio, and a voice-activated navigation system.

The 2013 Pilot earned good scores in safety and crash tests, earning excellent ratings for its good frontal and side impact protection and also in the roof strength test. For safety features, front-seat airbags and full-length side curtain airbags are standard. It also has antilock brakes, front head restraints, and stability control.

The 2013 Honda Pilot has good power, fuel rating is decent enough, and you’ll like the interior features it offers. Handling is a bit heavy though, it lacks agility when compared to other crossovers.
