2013 Honda Insight: Honda’s Best Affordable Small Car

The 2013 Honda Insight is the company’s entry in the market for affordable small cars. Not only is the Insight small and very affordable in price, its fuel efficiency is also one of the best. Honda hopes that this year, the 2013 Insight will finally break through the top spot for best affordable small car. The 2013 Insight is a hybrid car that doesn’t have much power and speed, but has great mileage and fuel efficiency. The engine is a 1.3L gasoline-fueled which has an electric motor. The gasoline engine generates 88hp plus 13hp more coming from the electric motor. The maximum output is 98hp which can go 0-60 mph in 10.8 seconds. Fuel consumption is at 41 mpg city/44 mpg highway. While you might not be the speediest on the road, you can definitely go places with the Insight.

Trunk space is good because of the Insight’s hatchback design. It has 15.9 cubic feet with rear sets up that can be expanded to 31.5 cubic feet by folding down the seats. The dashboard has a switch for Eco mode which saves more fuel, at the expense of some of the interior features going off.

There is a navigation system with ports for audio and USB cables. The 6-speaker stereo system is also okay. Optional features can be added like a digital audio card reader and a rearview camera.

The 2013 Insight performed very well in safety/crash tests. Standard features include front-seat and side curtain airbags, head restraints, stability and traction control, and antilock disc and drum brakes.

The 2013 Honda Insight is priced from $19,500 to $24,500. It’s most serious challenger and competitor is the Toyota Prius, which many regard as still best at it when it comes to fuel efficiency. But the price of the Insight is lower than the Prius, which makes it worth considering.
