2013 Honda Fit: The Super Roomy Hatchback

One of the most competitive car categories today is the small car category. Almost all of the major car manufacturers have several models for it, from 2-door coupes to hatchbacks. Honda is one of those vying to be the best in the small car category and this year it aims to be with the 2013 Honda Fit. There are two trims available for the 2013 Honda Fit – Fit and Fit Sport. The Fit has one of the most spacious cargo areas with a maximum space of 57.3 ft³, almost the same as a small SUV! Passenger seating is also abundant and comfortable. However, critics remarked that the materials were not that great, paling in comparison to other competing small cars.

All models come with these standard interior features – air-conditioning, keyless entry, cruise control, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a 4-speaker sound system w/ CD player, auxiliary audio jack and USB/iPod interface. The Fit Sport trim adds other features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 6-speaker sound system, a navigation system with a touchscreen interface, voice controls and Bluetooth connectivity.

The 2013 Honda Fit is powered by a 1.5L engine that generates 117hp and 106 lbs. of torque. It is available in manual or automatic transmission. The Fit Sport can accelerate 0-60 mph in 9.5 seconds in manual transmission. Fuel rating for the Fit is at best *28 mpg city/35 mpg highway.

The 2013 Honda Fit received good scores in safety and crash tests, doing great in frontal and side crash protection. Standard safety features include antilock disc and drum brakes, front side/side curtain airbags, stability/traction control, and active head restraints.

The 2013 Honda Fit costs $15,400 for the base Fit and $17,100 for the Fit Sport. It faces tough competition with Ford with its Fiesta and Focus car models. The Fit does well in handling and road reliability. It pales however in its interior; competitors have better-looking cabins, and also are quieter compared to the Fit.
