2012 Honda Civic is the Hottest Selling Car!

The Honda Civic is one of Honda’s best-sellers. In the US, it outsold in 2011 similar cars made by Volkswagen and Mazda. In the $20,000 below price range, the Civic is a proven formula for Honda. Maybe this is why Honda seemingly went lackadaisical with the 2012 Honda Civic. Few changes were made both in the exterior and the interior. Honda’s lax in design could put this car’s performance at the market in peril. The 2012 Honda Civic doesn’t do too well in terms of price and standard features. There are seven available models – coupe, sedan, Si sedan, Si coupe, hybrid, high fuel-efficiency and a natural gas model, arranged from cheapest to most expensive and also the number of interior features. The coupe and the sedan model don’t have air-conditioning or a radio, what a bummer! This certainly puts it in the damp when compared to other models like the Hyundai Elantra.

While the latter also doesn’t have air-conditioning as a standard feature, the lower price coupled with better standard features like a great speaker system , USB jack and satellite radio makes up for it. You can get additional features for the Civic like a USB audio interface, AM/FM radio and Bluetooth connectivity for an additional price.

The engine for all models except the Si is a 1.8 liter generating 140 horsepower. The Si has a 2.0L engine generating 197 horsepower. Fuel efficiency is good with the Si Coupe being the worst at 28 mpg city driving/31 mpg highway and the Hybrid being the best at 28 mpg city riving/44 mpg highway. Better mileage is a result of the great decrease in body weight.

The car interior is almost identical to last year, save for a few additions. There is now an auxiliary display to the right of the speedometer serving as a stereo display, fuel economy information, plus the option to upload custom wallpaper. The front and rear seats also are the same, the fabrics used aren’t topnotch.

The 2012 Honda Civic won’t make it to the top of its class. Its fuel efficiency is a great plus factor, but the lack of other essential features especially in the interior plus the high price hurts its overall rating.
