Honda Civic Dashboard Light Guide

Having a vehicle as reliable as the Honda Civic can really help you elevate your routine trips throughout Cerritos, Buena Park, and Long Beach, CA. However, if a light appears on the dashboard, you’ll want to remain calm. It’s always important to get a sense of the various warnings and indicators that can appear on your dashboard.

At Norm Reeves Honda Superstore Cerritos, we’re here to offer this Honda Civic dashboard light guide. In this guide, you’ll learn about the various lights that can appear on your dashboard, what they mean, and what you’ll need to do when they appear!

Indicators vs Warnings

There are two sets of lights that can pop up on your dashboard as you’re driving around. Indicators, which generally appear as blue or green, let you know that a system has been activated either by you or the vehicle automatically. These’ll turn off once the system has been deactivated.

Warning lights, on the other hand, are real-time issues that are occurring under the hood. These red and orange lights let you know that something is wrong and that you’ll want to have it inspected and corrected as soon as possible.

Indicators vs Warnings

Honda Civic Indicator Lights

  • Seat Belt Reminder Indicator—This light resembles a silhouette with a seat belt on and reminds you to engage your seat belt in the interest of your safety.
  • Vehicle Stability AssistTM (VSA®) System Indicator—The symbol for this light looks like a vehicle with swerving tire tracks. This means that your VSA® system has been activated because it detected a loss of stability or traction.
  • Turn Signal/Hazard Lights—When you see an arrow pointing left or right, it means that you’ve activated your turn signal. If there are two arrows pointing in opposite directions, this means that you’ve activated your hazard lights.

Honda Civic Warning Lights

  • Brake System Warning—If you see “Brake System” flashing on your dashboard, it means that there’s an issue with your braking system and you’ll want to have it serviced immediately to have full control of your vehicle’s speed.
  • Charging System Warning—This light appears in the form of a battery and lets you know that there’s a problem with your charging system and your battery could go out.
  • Electric Power Steering—The symbol for this light appears as a steering wheel with an exclamation point next to it. It means that your power steering system is malfunctioning, so you’ll want to pull over to the side of the road and contact your dealership immediately.
  • Low Fuel Warning—This light looks like a fuel pump and lets you know that you’re near empty. This means that you’ll want to fill up as soon as possible before you run out of fuel.
