When you’re in the market for a new full-size SUV, you’ll want to be sure that it meets all the requirements for your day-to-day travels. Luckily, the Honda Pilot has been a go-to family vehicle for years; it’s safe, well-equipped, and ready for just about any terrain around Buena Park and Long Beach.
We at Norm Reeves Honda Superstore wanted to help drivers make an educated decision so we’ve put together this handy guide. Our review provides all the need-to-know specs and features of the Honda Pilot, so you can drive off the lot with the vehicle that suits your lifestyle.
Every Honda Pilot is equipped with the same 3.5-liter i-VTEC® V6 engine, which generates up to 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The LX, EX, and EX-L trims have a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the Touring and Elite trims come with a 9-speed automatic transmission for an even smoother and controlled driving experience.
You can also opt for an Intelligent Variable Torque Management™ (i-VTM4®) AWD System. This feature will respond to specific road conditions to provide added traction. On the EX trim and above, the i-VTM4® comes standard with snow, sand, and mud modes.
There’s no need to worry about plotting the location of every gas station on your next family road trip thanks to an EPA-estimated 19 city/27 highway/22 combined MPG for the front-wheel drive Pilot.* If you choose the all-wheel drive variation with a 6-speed transmission, your fuel economy will only drop to 18 city/26 highway/21 combined MPG.*
Depending on which trim level you decide to take home, your 2020 Honda Pilot will have some specific amenities and features. For example, the LX trim has 18-inch Alloy wheels, a rearview camera, and a 5-inch LCD infotainment system with Bluetooth® connectivity. You’ll notice LED headlights as well.
When it comes to available amenities, you don’t have to upgrade very far. The EX trim and above provide some great interior and exterior conveniences. Among these are an 8-inch High-Resolution Electrostatic Touch-Screen to control music and navigation as well as Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ Integration. Additionally, these trim levels include 18-inch Machine-Finished Alloy wheels.
Honda is known for designing safe and reliable cars. The new Pilot is no different, featuring an array of Honda Sensing® technologies. These safety and driver-assistive systems include Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS).
The LDW uses cameras in your Honda’s rearview mirror to identify lane markings. If you’re drifting from a registered lane, the LDW will first alert you with an audible and visual warning. Then, the LKAS will provide an automatic preventative steering response shortly after a secondary alert.
Additionally, the only feature that does not come standard on the entry-level 2020 Pilot LX trim is the Blind Sport Information System (BSI) with Cross Traffic Monitor.
After reading through our 2020 Honda Pilot review, we hope that you’re excited to get behind the wheel. This SUV has a strong and efficient engine, many interior conveniences, and more than enough advanced safety features. Wherever you are in the car-buying or -leasing process, the auto experts at Norm Reeves Honda Superstore Cerritos can help.
