The Civic Hybrid is the flagship example of Honda's Integrated Motor Assist hybrid technology in an efficient practical package. The Civic Hybrid sedan is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and a light-weight, brushless electric motor that is sandwiched between the engine and the CVT transmission. A lithium-ion battery is now used in place of the nickel-metal hydride batteries used previously because it is lighter yet more powerful.
